Valencia crime report: Four vehicle burglaries on McBean Parkway

Zone 5-Valencia reported twenty one Part-1 Crimes during the past week. The criminal incidents included grand theft vehicles, residential/vehicle burglaries, an attempt robbery and shoplifting from local businesses.

Two grand theft of vehicles occurred this week. A 2005 Chevy Impala was stolen from the 28100 block of Smyth Drive between the hours of midnight and 7:00 am. The vehicle was parked on the street with the victim’s purse and spare key left in the vehicle. The second vehicle, a 1993 Nissan Sentra, was stolen from the mall parking lot between the hours of 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm.

Three residential burglaries occurred during the weekend between the hours of 4:00 pm – 11:00 pm. One burglary occurred on the 23900 block of Arroyo Park Drive. The victim left her garage door open with her vehicle unlocked. The victim’s purse was stolen from the passenger seat of the vehicle. A second burglary occurred on the 24700 block of Magic Mountain Parkway. Entry/exit was made by picking the lock to the front door of the residence. Items stolen were a cell phone and a pair of running shoes that were in the living room. The third burglary occurred on the 25800 block of McBean Parkway at a senior living home. US currency was stolen from the victim’s bedroom. An employee has been arrested in connection with this case.

Four vehicle burglaries occurred on the block of 24400 block of McBean Parkway between the hours of 8:00 pm – 7:00 am. All four burglaries had their passenger windows smashed and items stolen from the passenger seats. Vehicles were parked in designated parking spaces inside an apartment complex. Items stolen were motorcycle apparel, digital camera, lap top computer and an IPod all which were visible from the outside of the victim’s vehicles.

An attempt robbery occurred in a shopping center parking lot in the morning. The victim, a bus driver, was confronted by two male suspects in their 20’s. One of the suspects pulled out a knife and told the victim to give him his wallet and cell phone. When the victim told him he did not have one, the suspects fled on foot.

Do not become a victim! Please do not leave valuables unattended or visible in your vehicles. Secure items in locked trunks or take personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle. If possible, park in well-lit areas. If you see any suspicious activity or vehicles in your neighborhood, please call the Sheriff’s Station immediately at 661-255-1121.

There were eighteen arrests made by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area last week. Arrests included; spousal assault, possession of narcotics, driving under the influence of alcohol, numerous warrants and shoplifting from local businesses.
