Sheriff’s deputies were searching Wednesday for two robbery suspects — one who held up a Castaic fast-food restaurant at gunpoint Tuesday night, and one who attempted to rob the Sam’s Club in the Centre Pointe area in February.

The Castaic robber stole several hundred dollars and brandished a pistol at a Jack in the Box restaurant on Hasley Canyon Road around 9 p.m. Tuesday, said Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s Lt. Mark Hershey.

The suspect used a black, semi-automatic pistol in the robbery, Hershey said. It appears the robbery was an isolated incident and not related to any other recent crimes, he said.

Sheriff’s deputies also asked for the public’s assistance Wednesday in identifying a man who attempted an armed robbery Feb. 3 around 2:30 a.m. at Sam’s Club on Carl Boyer Drive.

The suspect gained access to the store while employees were inside and held several at gunpoint while demanding money. He fled without obtaining anything, investigators said.

A photo of the suspect released Wednesday was from surveillance cameras and not very clear, but Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said investigators were hopeful it will lead to an identification.

“This has been an on-going investigation since it happened,” Dubin said Wednesday.

“Armed robberies are especially serious,” he said, “even though, in this case, he didn’t actually get anything.”
