I love language arts: books, plays, poetry; you name it, I love it. I’ve always liked it but what really hit it off was when I took a theater class, I was hypnotized. I was determined to write my own play, and I am succeeding! I love writing. It’s like making my own world! Here is a sample of my play. I now present to you the opening scene of my play, "Trust Me."

Trust me

Scene is in the sitting room of New Hope orphanage. Nicky is at a desk writing a letter with an eagle quill.

There. Laying down his quill. All done.

He rolls up the letter and tying it with a ribbon. Just as he is finished, Raven enters from stage left.

Nicky? Yawning. What are you doing up at this time of night?

Just writing a letter before bed. What are you doing up?

You know me… just making sure people like you are in bed, come on..

Raven starts to pull Nicky to stage left.

Wait, do you remember your folks?

Raven looks a little sad, then shakes her head.

No… I don’t, come on it’s late.

She starts to pull Nicky, and they exit stage left. Lights go out. Scene is in New Hope’s breakfast table. Nicky enters yawning.

Good morning Raven. Mind if I sit with you?

Good morning Nicky. Of course you can sit with me.

He does so.

Who where you writing to last night?

No one important. Why do you walk around at night?

I don’t know, it just feels right. Biscuit?

Thank you. Taking the biscuit.I had a weird dream last night

Really? I had a dream I was a buffalo that... never mind. What did you dream?

I think I dreamed of my folks but I…I just don’t know..

Nicky looks down sadly, and Raven puts her arm on Nicky’s shoulder.

Raven: Oh Nicky, I know what you mean, not knowing anything. C’mon, let’s go on a walk, that always helps me when I have nightmares.

Nicky: Ok let’s go, but first, let’s eat.

Raven: Oh Nicky!

Hope you like it as much as me!
