Members of the Castaic Union School District board have named the seven people who will serve on the Measure QS Citizens Oversight Committee.

The seven members of the committee approved unanimously Tuesday by the district board are Jim D’Addario, Diane Fiero, Debbie Hawkins, Marcela Kocen, Jason Strahs, Jenny Turnn and Larry Wood, according to a district official.

Those interested in serving on the committee had to submit an application to the district before Feb. 8.

Measure QS, approved by voters in November, authorizes the Castaic district to issue up to $51 million in general obligation bonds to fund a series of construction, renovation and upkeep projects around the district.

Money from the bonds comes from a property tax that will amount to an estimated $19 per $100,000 of assessed annual property value, according to the bond proposal.

Those tax revenues could only be used for the specific projects mentioned in the bond proposal.

Per state law, districts that pass bond measures of this type must appoint a citizens’ oversight committee to ensure bond money is being spent correctly.
