The alleged accomplice of the blond scammer — who stalks other women at grocery stores, steals their wallets and uses their IDs — appeared briefly in court Tuesday, a court clerk said.

Valerie Lynne Ray, 54, of Los Angeles, the alleged ringleader of the scam, appeared in San Fernando Superior Court for the first time Tuesday on a charge of grand theft in connection with thefts that occurred in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Her case was postponed until April. She remains in custody at Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood with bail set at $750.000.

Ray was arrested Feb. 5 and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, sheriff’s officials said.

About a month later, deputies arrested a second woman — the one suspected of being the “blond scammer” — after they released photos captured by a bank surveillance camera.

Pilar Raine Abalos, 42, of Poway in San Diego County, is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
