Two people were taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries this morning following a two-vehicle rollover collision on Highway 14 at Golden Valley Road, a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman said.

Shortly after 5:30 a.m. Sunday, fire officials and officers with the California Highway Patrol received reports of a car on its roof and an SUV on its side in the slow lane of the highway’s northbound lanes, said Fire Department Supervisor Al Jackson.

“We got the call as a traffic collision involving a Mustang and an SUV, with parties trapped,” he said.

Firefighters and paramedics found a white Ford Mustang on its roof and a Suzuki SUV on its side and at least one person trapped inside a vehcile.

“Two people were transported to a local hospital,” Jackson said.

Firefighters using hydraulic sheers cut through the crumpled metal of one of the vehicles and freed one of the victims from the wreckage, he said.

CHP officers reported that the two overturned vehicles blocked the highway’s slow lane but that morning traffic was “extremely light.”

About 6:30 a.m., CHP closed the slow lane to traffic and shut down the highway’s on-ramp from Golden Valley.

By 10 a.m., all lanes were opened to traffic.
