Did you remember to set your clocks forward one hour last night? Yes, it is daylight saving time again. My least favorite time of the year! I would much rather gain an hour of sleep, than lose one!

Vision in Education Dinner

The fourth annual “Vision in Education Dinner,” to benefit science education for students at Santa Clarita Valley International Charter School (SCVi), a tuition-free public charter school, will be held March 16 at the Hyatt Regency Valencia.

The event will honor two women who epitomize vision in education. In addition to this year’s honoree, Marti Heinbaugh, Mission Valley Bank’s Regional Manager, SCVi has selected Jenny Williams as the 2013 Founders Vision Award recipient.

Williams is a founding teacher at SCVi who oversees a multi-age K/1 classroom and leads the school’s entire K/1 team.

“Jenny embodies the principles and philosophy of SCVi,” said Dawn Evenson, SCVi’s executive director of education. “Her quiet leadership has helped build SCVi and its sister school, iLEAD in Lancaster, into the thriving learning environments that they are today.”

Williams is in her seventh year of teaching – the last five of which have been at SCVi. She is an expert on multi-age classrooms and project-based learning.

The event will feature cocktails, dinner, entertainment, dancing, and live and silent auctions. Tickets are $90 per person and can be purchased at scvi-k12.org.
