This past basketball season was one of the most exciting in recent memory because of the action on the floor and the support of the fans.

And there’s only one way to cap it off.

For the fourth season in a row, The Signal is putting on the SCV Hoops Finale — the Santa Clarita Valley’s All-Star senior basketball games.

The games will take place on March 23 at Valencia High School’s gymnasium for the first time, with the girls’ game tipping off at 5 p.m. and the boys’ game starting at 7 p.m.

The games are scheduled to be televised on delay that night on SCVTV.

Admission at the door is $5 and for the fourth straight year the game will serve as a benefit, this time for the William S. Hart Union High School District’s WiSH Education Foundation.

All admission proceeds will be given to WiSH for special education programs throughout the school district.

The game has annually benefited people with special needs.

“The Hart School District is thrilled about the upcoming Hoops Finale for our student athletes, parents and the community,” said Gail Pinsker, William S. Hart Union High School District Public Relations Officer. “We appreciate The Signal making this event a reality for several years through their support and all the planning and coordination involved. We are happy they have selected the WiSH Education Foundation as the beneficiary this year, supporting student programs in our district.”

As part of tradition, at halftime of the girls game, there will be a 3-point contest for the girls and during halftime of the boys contest there will be a slam dunk contest.

The game has participants from all Santa Clarita Valley varsity programs — the Foothill League six, Santa Clarita Christian and Trinity Classical Academy.

Every game in the series has been close.
