A group of honor students from La Mesa Junior High is collecting food donations until tonight at two supermarkets in Canyon Country.

They will use the donations to create meals in a box for Santa Clarita seniors on Valentine’s Day, Saturday.

Dane Cannon, Michael Leffler, Andie Hill and Kristie Moody set up brightly colored food donation boxes in front of Ralphs on Soledad Canyon and Via Princessa, and Albertsons on Sierra Highway and Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country.

Each box contains a list of suggested items that people can purchase to donate.

The students will coordinate with the SCV Senior Center and deliver the meals on Saturday to seniors who are in need of a nutritious gift.
