Captains who have organized teams for the American Cancer Society's SCV Relay For Life or those interested in forming a walking team for the 24-hour event this spring are invited to a team captain meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Northpark Elementary School.

This year's Relay is scheduled for 9 a.m. May 30 to 9 a.m. the following morning at Central Park, and 73 teams have already signed up toward the committee's goal of 130 fundraising teams.

At this meeting, team captains will be able to register their teams, pick up luminaria bags, purchase Relay clothing and equipment from the Relay Store, and pick up ideas for team recruitment and fund-raising.

Individual walkers interested in participating will also have an opportunity to sign up with one of the teams already organizing or start their own team with friends and family.

Team captains who have not yet registered their teams can take advantage of earlybird registration, which will allow teams to register for Relay camp sites for a discounted $50 until March 5.

Team captain meetings are scheduled the third Tuesday of every month and offer prize drawings, information on the fight against cancer, and tips on organizing a successful Relay team.

Online registration or information on this year's Relay is available at the local Relay Web site, www.scvrelay.com.
