The wine bar business, Roman Holiday, which announced Feb. 12 it was working to re-open after a dispute between partners forced its closure, is definitely closing, sources say.

The deadline for re-opening came and passed, said a spokesperson with Westfield Valencia Town Center.

One of the original partners, Gunner Resendez, said in February that he hoped to resolved the dispute and reopen the business shortly. Wednesday night, The Signal got word that Resendez said Roman Holiday would close but the phone number for Resendez was disconnected.

“Roman Holiday is closed and done for business,” said Challen Waychoff, assistant general manager for the Westfield Valencia Town center.

The business had opened at The Patios January 2011 but abruptly closed in January 2013. Resendez had said last month he was attempting to resolve the dispute and working on a new contract to change the ownership.

The retail shopping center is almost at capacity, Waychoff said, and demand for space is high. National tenants are coming back to inquire about space, and as a mall the Westfield Valencia center is performing very well, he said.

As for the location Roman Holiday operated out of, the shopping center operator has other prospects, he said.

Westfield expects to have the space filled and another business operating out of it before year-end, Waychoff said.
“We have some pretty exciting prospects; negotiations have begun,” he said. “There’s a large amount of interest. It will not be vacant long.”
