SACRAMENTO – Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R-SantaClarita, announced he has added informational buttons for the Santa Susana Field Laboratory and Whittaker-Bermite cleanup processes to his State Assembly website.

“Constituents can use my Assembly website as a resource to find information on issues facing the 38th Assembly District. The new informational buttons provide an easy way for interested parties to find information about the Santa Susana Field Laboratory and Whittaker-Bermite cleanup processes. They can be found on the right side of my website,” Wilk said.

The Santa Susana Field Laboratory is located in southeastern Ventura County, near Simi Valley and the western border of the San Fernando Valley. The site is home to a former rocket engine testing and nuclear research facility and is currently the focus of a comprehensive cleanup program, conducted by Boeing, the United States Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

The Whittaker-Bermite property is located on an undeveloped 996-acre site in the center of the City of Santa Clarita. The Whittaker-Bermite Corporation manufactured and tested ammunition and explosives at the property until 1987. The clean-up of the soil is estimated to be completed in four years.

Both cleanup projects are under the supervision of the California Department of Toxic Substances Control.
