A robber who detained Sam's Club employees at gunpoint then used a forklift to elude sheriff's deputies is still at-large, a sheriff's official said.

A man hid in the Sam's Club on Carl Boyer Drive until the store closed Sunday night, said Sgt. Darren Harris of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. The man then forced several Sam's Club employees into a back room at gunpoint, Harris said.

Other store employees who saw the gunman snuck out of the store and contacted sheriff's deputies who responded and set up a perimeter, Harris said.

The suspect used a forklift to knock down a door and escape from the store with an undisclosed amount of money, Harris said.

Deputies searched the area, but could not find the suspect, Harris said.

Deputies describe the suspect as a white male, standing about 6 feet, 4 inches and weighing between 200 and 240 pounds. The suspect was wearing a black sweat suit, dark jeans and black ski mask at the time of the robbery, Harris said.

Deputies ask anyone with information to call (661) 255-1121.
