A 30-foot tree fell over on McBean Parkway just south of Northpark Drive. Weather experts say they believe winds will recede by late Monday.

Following a blustery weekend in the Santa Clarita Valley, residents are likely to find themselves stepping over snapped branches and wind-swept debris today but without the strong winds that rattled windows and put things in motion.

At least one 30-foot tree fell over on McBean Parkway just south of Northpark Drive.

Gusts of 55 and 60 mph were logged overnight Saturday, Weather Specialist Scott Sukup with the National Weather Service in Oxnard said Sunday.

“We had a high wind warning for the Santa Clarita Valley that night,” he said.

“There were some pretty strong winds.”

The warning was dropped to a wind advisory by mid-afternoon Sunday, he said.

Winds forecast between 5 and 15 mph are expected to continue dropping throughout the day Monday.

The winds will be replaced with sunshine, he said, with a high Monday at 66 and an overnight low expected in the “low 40s,” Sukup said.

“It should be a pretty nice week,” he said.
