At least one man was arrested during a series of parole and probation compliance checks Friday morning, a sheriff’s official said.

Lt. Mark Hershey of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said the man, 23-year-old Kyle Blythe of Canyon Country, was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics, as well as possession of a methamphetamine pipe.

Sheriff’s deputies screened nine houses Friday morning beginning at 7 a.m., Hershey said. Eight of the houses were in Canyon Country and one was in Castaic.

Hershey said the checks are done regularly and usually come at the request of probation or parole officers.

Hershey said he believes another arrest was made during the compliance check, but did not have any details on what the charges or circumstances of the arrest were.

It is also unclear if Blythe was one an offender released under the provisions of the state’s realignment plan, Hershey said. Realignment went into effect in 2011 and moves the responsibility of some low-level offenders from state to county and local agencies.

Some of those offenders are released on probation under the supervision of county probation departments.
