Funeral arrangements for a former Santa Clarita Valley high school educator shot and killed in Woodland Hills on Valentine’s Day are to be held in Pasadena, two of the victim’s daughters said Thursday.

Caroline Sue Purviance, 61, who worked as a special education instructional assistant for three local high schools, was found dead inside a home on Mason Avenue in Woodland Hills on Feb. 14, Officer Sara Faden of the Los Angeles Police Department said Tuesday.

Laura Purviance, 24, the victim’s daughter, remains in custody in Oregon, held on the suspicion of murder.
Two of the victim’s other daughters, Lila Satterfield and Katy Purviance, anticipate many people in the Santa Clarita Valley would want to attend the funeral service.

News of her death has prompted many who knew Caroline Sue Purviance to contact the family, they said.

“We’ve been hearing from people we used to know there in the SCV,” Katy Purviance wrote in an email to The Signal.

“We really hope to have a huge turnout at her service,” she wrote.

Services are to be held at All Saints Church on North Euclid Avenue in Pasadena at 2 p.m. March 2.

All are welcome, according to the daughters.

The investigation into the woman’s death is continuing.
