Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's deputies arrest Aaron Kellingsworth, of Lancaster, following a high-speed chase along McBean Parkway on Tuesday afternoon.

A Lancaster man was arrested in Valencia on Tuesday after he led sheriff's deputies on a brief pursuit along McBean Parkway, officials reported.

Aaron Kellingsworth, 31, was taken into custody on four felony counts after he crashed his car into a parked vehicle and tried to hide in a vacant apartment.

Deputies attempted to pull over Kellingsworth, who was driving a van in front of Mervyn's in the River Oaks Shopping Center on Magic Mountain Parkway, at approximately 2:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Moments later, a passenger jumped out of the van and ran away on foot while Kellingsworth drove away. A warrant was out for his arrest.

A pursuit ensued as deputies chased Kellingsworth away from Mervyn's and down McBean Parkway into the Bridgeport Coast apartment complex, where the suspect crashed his van into a parked car next to Panera Bread.

Kellingsworth left his car and ran into the apartment complex, where he hid in a vacant unit. After deputies set up a containment and searched the building, Kellingsworth was found in the vacant apartment and was immediately arrested.

He is charged with possession of methamphetamines, felony evasion of arrest, possession of burglary tools and violation of a warrant for arrest.

The passenger was not identified or arrested and is still at large, according to deputies.
