Officers from the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control will be in Acton today checking to ensure animals are up to date on their rabies vaccinations and that residents are complying with state licensing requirements.

California state law requires all dogs and cats more than four months in age be vaccinated against rabies and licensed.

Residents not in compliance with state law face additional delinquency fees on top of the normal fees to license an animal.
