A Valencia woman is safe and unharmed after she snubbed two would-be robbers who held her at gunpoint, a local sheriff’s spokesman said.

About 4:30 p.m., two men - one of them armed with a handgun - tried to mug a woman at gunpoint near the intersection of Arroyo Park Drive and Bellis Drive, said Lt. Tom Bryski of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Two males, black, about 20, displayed a handgun and demanded money and jewelry from a woman,” he said.
“She said ‘no.’”

Instead, the woman ran to a nearby house and the would-be muggers ran away.

“The woman went to a nearby house and called 911,” Bryski said.

No shots were fired and the woman was not hurt, he said.

Deputies immediately began scouring the neighborhood west of McBean Parkway including Summit Park, he said.
The gun was described as a small silver-colored weapon.

“It was an attempted robbery,” Bryski said. “She didn’t give them anything,” he said. “We’re still scouring the area.”
