Champ, the skateboarding English bulldog, died suddenly on Wednesday.

Champ, an English bulldog and one of the Santa Clarita Valley’s own skateboarding “wonder dogs,” died suddenly on Wednesday, his owner said today.

Wednesday was also Champ’s fifth birthday.

Brent Green was Champ’s owner and taught the dog how to skateboard.

But skateboarding also seems to run in Champ’s blood.

His father, Tank, was no stranger to board sports, once snowboarding on a float in the Rose Parade.

Four of Champ’s male offspring also know how to skateboard, Green said.

Champ could often be seen riding his skateboard at the Green Landscape Nursery on Bouquet Canyon Road, said nursery owner Richard Green, who is Brent Green’s father.

Richard Green called Champ’s death “devastating.”

“We’ve been trying to talk to customers all day and we keep breaking into tears,” Richard Green said.
