Valencia Country Club has been chosen to host the 2013 Pac-12 women’s golf championships from April 22 through April 24.

The tournament will mark the first time in the club’s history that it has hosted the collegiate event.

In previous years, the club has hosted events such as the Nissan Open and PGA Champions Tour events from 2001 to 2009.

“It means a lot (to host this event). When they see the collegiates play, it’s going to mean a lot to our juniors,” said Valencia Country Club first assistant Marvin Kagaoan.

The 2013 event will be hosted by UCLA. As hosts, the Bruins chose to have the event at Valencia Country Club.

“It’s a great honor,” Kagaoan said. “It’s UCLA, they chose the course, and we’re very honored.”

Kagaoan said a lot of work will go into preparing the course for the three-day tournament, which will feature all 12 Pac-12 conference schools.
