Local sheriff’s deputies detained a man at gunpoint at a fast-food restaurant in Valencia on Thursday for allegedly threatening to use a gun, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
However, the man was released without charges after deputies determined the dispute involved nothing more than a verbal argument.
Shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, deputies converged on the parking lot of McDonald’s at Bouquet Canyon Road and Valencia Boulevard, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
At gunpoint, they detained a man on a white mountain bike after he left the eatery.
“He said he had a gun but no gun was seen,” said a woman who works at the restaurant.
“After conducting their investigation, (Sheriff’s Department personnel) found out it was a verbal argument,” said Deputy Josh Dubin.
The mountain biker was not arrested and no charges were filed, Dubin said.
