Text messages proved to be the smoking gun that connected Jay Blehm to a series of Tuesday night burglaries.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Deputies swarmed a home in the 24200 block of Kirby Court in Valencia Tuesday night after a resident reported an unknown person walking in a neighbor's backyard.

Responding deputies spotted Jay Blehm, 18, of Valencia, on Decoro Drive near McBean Parkway.

Blehm matched the description given by a witness and linked him to two other Tuesday-night residential burglaries.

Deputies found text messages sent from the Blehm's phone to other individual's describing several items he was trying to sell that matched items missing from the burglarized homes.

Deputies booked Blehm at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on felony burglary charges. Blehm is held in lieu of $50,000 bail pend.
