The Lyons Corridor Plan aims to widen sidewalks and improve public landscaping.

The city of Santa Clarita will hold a public meeting Wednesday on the proposed Lyons Corridor Plan, which would govern zoning and development in the area around Lyons Avenue in Newhall.

The meeting will be Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the community room at Old Orchard Park, 25023 Avenida Rotella in Valencia.

There will be two identical presentations during the meeting, one at 6:15 p.m. and the other at 7:15 p.m.
Wednesday’s meeting is the first of several opportunities for the public to comment on the plan. Others will be held on Feb. 13 and Feb. 21.

The city began the planning process in May 2011 and released a draft of the plan on Jan. 28. The plan encompasses the entire span of Lyons Avenue between Interstate 5 and Newhall Avenue.

The plan incorporates and is meant to address factors raised during a public-commenting period that began in the summer of 2011.

Public comment was sought on the condition of buildings in the area and what amenities citizens would like to see in the planning area, among other topics.

The planning area covers 102 acres and includes 1,326,000 square feet of building space.
