The California Assembly has passed legislation authored by Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, which would designate Feb. 6, 2013, as “Ronald Reagan Day” to honor the Republican president’s achievements, influence and legacy.

Feb. 6 marks what would have been the 102nd birthday for the former president, who also served as California’s governor.

The 38th Assembly District, which Wilk represents, is also home to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

The legislation, known as Assembly Concurrent Resolution Number 5, is Wilk’s first piece of legislation to be passed since he was elected.
