One man suffered minor facial injuries today in a two-vehicle collision on northbound Highway 14 near Golden Valley Road, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

Shortly before 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, a blue Ford Explorer flipped onto its side in an apparent collision with a silver-colored Toyota Avalon sedan in freeway lanes, the spokesman said. Both vehicles ended up by he shoulder in the right-hand lane.

No one was seriously hurt in the crash, and no one was taken to the hospital.

CHP officers responding to the crash were first told it was a solo vehicle collision.

Traffic in the right-hand northbound lanes slowed behind the stopped vehicles.

Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics were dispatched to the crash for reports of someone trapped in a car, a Fire Department spokesman said.

“Initially, we got the call as a traffic collision with somebody trapped,” said Inspector Quvondo Johnson.
“We found the traffic collision but no one was trapped.”

One man injured in the collision had a bloody face, a witness reported.

Some concerned motorists who first called the CHP said there was “a man still in the vehicle,” said CHP Sgt. John Lutz.

For a brief time just before noon, CHP officers closed traffic in all lanes to allow for emergency vehicles.
