We are just one week away from the CIF-Southern Section winter playoffs.

Rankings released by the CIF-SS give an indication as to who is postseason bound next week.

The highest ranked teams are in boys basketball.

If Foothill League co-leaders West Ranch and Hart can close out this week with victories, they will likely see top four seeds in the playoffs.

West Ranch (17-6) is at No. 3 in the Division IA poll behind No. 1 El Toro (21-5) and No. 2 Santa Monica (18-6). Valencia (16-6) is ninth in the same division.

Hart (23-1) is ranked second in Division IIIAAA behind Tustin (23-2).

No other Foothill League team is ranked.

Valencia is 16-6 and can clinch third place in the Foothill League with one victory this week, yet the Vikings play Hart and West Ranch.

That gives 13-11 Canyon some life in the Foothill, and hopes of an automatic berth in the playoffs, as the Cowboys trail the Vikings by two games in the league standings.

Saugus is 12-13, with head coach Derek Ballard confident that his team will be selected for the postseason come next week.

Trinity Classical Academy (12-5) is No. 2 in Division VI, behind Rio Hondo Prep (15-7).

The top two teams in Foothill girls basketball are also ranked, as Canyon (20-4) is at No. 6 behind No. 1 Keppel (21-4) in Division IIAA.

Valencia (18-7) is at No. 7 behind No. 1 Mater Dei (23-0) in Division IAA.

West Ranch is 12-10 overall and Saugus is 13-12 overall as the two are tied for third place in the Foothill.

Saugus is No. 13 in Division IIA and West Ranch is unranked.

Both teams appear to have solid enough resumes for the playoffs.

In soccer, it’s a different story.

In boys soccer, West Ranch is at No. 8 behind No. 1 Artesia in Division IV.

The Wildcats hold a one-point lead over Valencia in the Foothill standings.

Hart is up five points on Saugus for third place and the final automatic playoff spot for the Foothill League.

Sub-.500 Saugus will need to win both its games this week and hope Hart loses both of its to get into the postseason.

In girls soccer, Valencia is the only Foothill team ranked at tied for 10th in Division II.

All the Vikings need is a tie this week to win the Foothill title outright.

Canyon and Hart are tied for second, five points behind the Vikings.

Both teams appear playoff bound.

Saugus is six points behind both teams in fourth place, but with a 17-4-2 overall record, the Cents appear to be in good shape for an at-large berth to the postseason.

Santa Clarita Christian is at No. 7 in the Division VII poll, well behind No. 1 St. Monica.
