A 42-year-old Canyon Country mother pleaded for the return of a wallet stolen from her 8-year-old son while he was at a department store Thursday.

Kim Castruita said the wallet was hand made and fashioned from the shirt pocket of her brother’s Marine fatigues.

Her brother successfully completed tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and was on the force of the Inglewood Police Department when he was killed in a motorcycle accident at age 29.

“He loved his country. He loved his job,” Castruita said of her brother. “My son is still crying. His uncle was his hero.”

Castruita asks anyone who sees the camouflage wallet, reading “U.S. Marine” on the front, to bring it to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station.

“The wallet is irreplaceable,” Castruita said.
