The City of Santa Clarita invites residents to attend the Earth Day Festival and 20th Annual Arbor Day Celebration on Saturday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Central Park in Saugus.

The City, which won the distinguished Tree City USA award for 18 consecutive years, will host this year's debut event with a variety of activities, entertainment and displays which will be scheduled in six interactive zones: Energy, Eco, Water Conservation, Community, Children's and Green Car.

"I am so excited to see this combination Earth and Arbor Day celebration take place Santa Clarita," said Councilmember Laurene Weste. "The Festival showcases our beautiful landscape and open space while reminding the community about the importance of environmental issues."

Featured attractions at the Energy Zone include displays by solar companies, green builders and companies developing alternative home energy use products. The Eco Zone will display an Eco Footprint Tent where guests can find out their impact on the earth using an online carbon footprint test. The Water Conservation Zone will showcase interactive educational displays emphasizing the importance of water conservation.

The resident-minded Community Zone will include non-profit and community groups presenting displays, hands-on activities and giveaways for visitors. At the Children's Zone, kids and families will experience a number of interactive activities and can learn about global warming, solar energy, water, pollution and other environmental issues.

Perhaps one of the most exciting exhibits scheduled for the event is the Green Car Zone. This Zone will feature the latest vehicles using hydrogen fuel cells, ethanol, bio-diesel and compressed natural gas, as well as gas-electric hybrids and electric vehicles.

Earth Day, nationally recognized on April 22, will be celebrated citywide on April 18th as an added event to the 20th Annual Arbor Day Celebration. Each year, the City hosts the Arbor Day Celebration to educate residents about the benefits of trees as part of the world-recognized Arbor Day holiday.

Central Park is located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road.
