The home delivered meals program, run by the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center and the Committee on Aging recently received a $5,000 grant from the American Contract Bridge League Charity Foundation.

Rand Pinsky, treasurer of the national board of directors of the American Contract Bridge League and district director for the Los Angeles region, presented the $5,000 check to Rachelle Dardeau, executive director of the SCV Senior Center.

The check presentation was made at the weekly meeting of the Valencia Bridge Studio which holds its games at the SCV Senior Center in Newhall.

The American Contract Bridge League is a national organization of bridge players with more than 166,000 members throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. The League is divided into 25 districts. One of those districts includes Los Angeles County.

The sister organization of the American Contract Bridge League is the American Contract Bridge league Charity Foundation to which members contribute.

Each year the Foundation awards $30,000 grants to the 25 districts on a rotating basis. For the year 2012, the Los Angeles district was a recipient of the grant.

Pinsky, of Valencia, was charged, as district director, with the responsibility of awarding the grant to Los Angeles charities.

The money was divided into six $5,000 grants to spread around the county.

The Los Angeles District is split into nine local geographic area units.

The SCV/Antelope Valley Unit choose the home delivered meals program to be the recipient of its $5,000 grant.

The Santa Clarita also offers two other American Contract Bridge League weekly bridge games, on Monday afternoons at the SCV Senior Center and Thursday mornings at the Castaic Sports Complex. You do not have to be a member of the Bridge League to play in these games.
