A burglar spotted running from a looted school Sunday, dropping “stuff” as he ran, is still being sought by local sheriff’s deputies, a spokesman said.

Shortly before 1:45 p.m., deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a burglary alarm at the Golden Oak Community School on Via Princessa, said Lt. Tom Bryski.

“There was a burglar alarm at the school and when the deputy pulled up he saw someone running up a (nearby) hill dropping stuff as he ran,” he said.

“We set up a containment,” he said.

Sheriff’s deputies in at least seven patrol cars descended on the scene, covering an area between Via Princessa and Lost Canyon Road, along Golden Valley Road.

Deputies paid particular attention to the area near the Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse store parking lot.

The suspect was described as wearing baggy clothes, a gray sweatshirt and beige pants.

Bryski said deputies suspect the wanted man got into a car.

Deputies are expected to review surveillance footage from security cameras at Lowe’s in hopes of identifying the suspect.
