One person died and two others were injured Saturday night in a two-car collision near the intersection of Sierra Highway and Davenport Road, a California Highway Patrol official confirmed.
A total of three people were involved in the crash, which happened around 5:43 p.m. when two trucks collided.
Several people were reported trapped in their vehicles immediately after the collision and officers had to use the Jaws of Life to free them, according to a report at the scene.
One person was confirmed dead at the scene while the other two were transported to the hospital for treatment.
One was airlifted from the scene and the other was taken by ambulance, according to CHP Officer Jennifer Cassidy.
Cassidy confirmed one person had died in the crash.
Sierra Highway is closed off in both directions and expected to be restricted for at least the next three hours, Cassidy said.
