Letters: Enough talk on banning all that’s potentially harmful

In response to “Video games, movies are the problem,” Jan. 16:

Ban everything! I’ve seen too many articles pointing the blame at video games.

I’m no hardcore gamer, but I enjoy a game from time to time. Drinkers enjoy a drink from time to time, sometimes they get behind a wheel and kill someone; let’s ban drinks!

Using a cellphone while driving and kill someone? No more phones!

Choke on a water in a water bottle? Sippy bottles!

We’ll just bubble wrap the whole world, protect us from any dangers; everyone will be miserable but at least alive.

How come we never talk about banning alcohol after drunk driving accidents?

Why is it only gun violence that breeds this talk?

Are drunk driving deaths more “acceptable”?

Ask the victims and those left behind that question.

Yeah, I’m no alcohol fan, but people enjoy it, accidents happen, hopefully perpetrators are brought to justice, but that’s it.

No one talks about outright banning alcohol, so let’s stop odious language toward video games, something those talking about it admittedly know nothing about and already don’t partake in, thus don’t care about it going away.
