The William S. Hart Union High School District issued the following response today to the ACLU announcement of a lawsuit against California over education for English-language learners (http://www.signalscv.com/section/36/article/87113/):

"We have a very robust EL program in the Hart School District currently, with approximately 2,300 students of our 23,000 student population eligible for EL services.

"Services are available to all EL students and the only students entitled to services that are not getting services are when the parent opts them out of the services.

"Our EL graduation rate is 92% in the 11-12 school year and has historically been at similar levels. This exceeds county and state rates.

"Based on our successful EL programs and results, we have no indication or expectation that the Wm. S. Hart UHSD will be named in any ACLU litigation on this issue."
