Last time we reviewed the Mysterio Oscuro, paired with Bourbon whiskey.

This week I would like to introduce a new cigar, Perla del Mar.

Perla del Mar is a line of exquisite boxpressed Nicaraguan cigars. It is made in the Fabrica de Tabasco’s San Rafael S.A. This factory is the same boutique factory that produces the highly-rated Brick House and El Baton Cigars.

Perla del Mar offers a diverse blend of 100 percent Nicaraguan long filler tobaccos.

The filler and binder tobaccos have been selected from four distinct regions in Nicaragua: Pueblo Nuevo, La Reina, Condega and Jalapa. When paired with the mild, creamy shade wrapper, this mixture provides a lighter, fresher flavor, with some of the complexities cigar smokers enjoy on Nicaraguan tobacco.

Before lighting up, I think it’s good to share what’s on my palate. I just finished one of my favorite chicken sandwiches from Fresh Works. Light lunch equates to an after-lunch light cigar.

This cigar starts often with a slight hint of sweetness and hay/grassy flavor. For the most part it is clean and smooth. The cigar continues with the same flavors all the way through. It offers a high volume of smoke and, for the price of $5.99, “it’s a winner.”

I would recommend this cigar to those who prefer mild to medium cigars. I believe it would pair well with a light-bodied beer.

Considering this cigar is from Nicaragua, I am very surprised at how mild it is, with very little signs of spice or pepper. It would also go well with a cup of java in the morning, which is exactly what I will do the next time the sun rises.

They are here now for your smoking pleasure. Please, join me for a smoke.

Relax and Enjoy.

Three and a half stars.
