Three people, including a child, were injured Monday when their pickup truck crashed through a guardrail on Highway 14 near Agua Dulce Canyon Road, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.

Shortly before 3:45 p.m. Monday, a white Dodge pickup truck northbound on the freeway crashed through the guardrail, plunged about 40 feet down an embankment, rolled over and landed right side up near the northbound freeway on-ramp at Agua Dulce Canyon Road, the CHP spokesman said.

Two passengers — a man and a child — were airlifted to UCLA Medical Center, said Inspector Bernard Peters of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

One witness at the scene of the rescue described the man as “middle-aged.”

A third victim, described as a young man, was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

“The top of the truck was caved in,” the witness said.

The Agua Dulce on-ramp was closed for more than an hour at 4 p.m.
