The community places value on education

I am so proud to have been part of the 17th annual Principal for a Day event put on by the SCV Educational Foundation.

In my third year as chairman, I was so encouraged by all the support we received from the community to help make this event a reality, especially during these tough economic times.

It is an example of how much value our community places on the education of our youth and their continued support of the SCV Education Foundation.

I specifically wanted to thank all the sponsors of the event: Vanir Construction, JSB Development, e-Instruction, Piper & Jaffray, DC Architects and School Specialty.

My thanks also extend to the real principals, assistant principals, superintendents and assistant superintendents who opened up their schools to let someone else take over for a few hours and share what really goes on in our school.

I get the pleasure of hearing from both sides, and what a wonderful opportunity this day provides.

It allows the business owners in the community, who are the future employers of the students, to see what type of training is taking place and also what the struggles are that the educators need to deal with.

I want to again thank everyone involved in making this such a wonderful event, and I look forward to seeing all of you in the principal's office next year.
