The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has ruled Sarah Alarid’s death accidental, a spokesman said Monday.

Alarid, whose body was found Wednesday at the bottom of a steep ravine in Sand Canyon, died of multiple blunt force injuries, coroner’s spokesman Lt. Fred Corral said.

Meanwhile, more than 100 people contributed to a fund-raising effort for Alarid’s family Monday at a Stevenson Ranch restaurant.

Alarid, 19, left a party at a Canyon Country home early New Year’s Day and was not heard from again. Friends and family launched daily searches of Santa Clarita Valley neighborhoods looking for the woman or her car until the vehicle was discovered by a helicopter Wednesday. Her body was nearby.

Krista Brandt, general manager of Chili’s Grill & Bar, said the fundraiser was still going well Monday evening.

“They’ve been really supportive of the family,” she said of the restaurant patrons. “Not all of them knew Sarah, but they came out in support of her family.”

A memorial service was being arranged for Saturday, but plans were not yet final, Alarid’s uncle, Brian Alarid, said Monday.
