Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s deputies were questioning a man for investigation of sexual assault Monday after his alleged victim spotted him and called the police.

Shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, deputies responded to reports from a woman that had she spotted the man who molested her last week, said Lt. Tom Bryski of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Deputies in cruisers followed a motorist driving a black PT Cruiser to Sandy Drive in the Jakes Way area of Canyon Country.

At 2:13 p.m., a sheriff’s deputy reported she was detaining the driver at gunpoint on Sandy Drive, Bryski confirmed.

“A girl reported last week that a guy groped her and she told us she saw him again,” he said.

By 4:45 p.m., detectives were satisfied that the man was, in fact, the one wanted in connection with the sexual assault reported last week, Bryski said.

“They’re still interviewing him so they haven’t released any name yet,” he said late Monday.

The man is expected to be charged.
