A Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s helicopter searched around Via Delfina in Valencia for a missing 80-year-old man with dementia Saturday night, said Lt. Robert Lewis.

The man walked away from his residence Saturday morning, Lewis said.

“He is a ‘critical missing’ which means we need to find him as soon as possible because of age, dementia and lateness of the day,” Lewis said.

Multiple ground units were on an active search, he said.

Deputies had not found the man, missing from about 4 p.m., as of Saturday evening.
