Free SCV seminar on youth violence

The Santa Clarita Valley Child & Family Center will present a free seminar on youth violence 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday.

Called “Youth Violence and the Aftermath,” the seminar is designed to help people recognize the red flags of serious mental illness and to deal with trauma.

Including a panel discussion with trauma experts and a question-and-answer session, the seminar is aimed at teaching parents and others how to deal with trauma response, talking to youth about traumatic events, recognizing the red flags of serious mental illness and providing mental health first aid.
