A local sheriff’s captain seriously injured in a fiery head-on traffic collision before Christmas remains in the hospital more than a month after the incident, a hospital spokeswoman confirmed.

Carrie Stuart, 47, a captain in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, remains in stable condition at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, said Katreena Salgado.

On Dec. 7, about 9:30 p.m., the 2009 Ford operated by Stuart slammed head-on into a car driven by Ofosu Ofori, 38, a resident of Elizabeth Lake, according to an investigator with the California Highway Patrol.

Both drivers were taken to the same hospital.

Any information about Ofori or his condition will not be disclosed at his request, Salgado said.

Stuart, a 28-year department veteran, works as unit commander at Pitchess Detention Center South Facility.

The crash is still under investigation.
