Sheriff’s deputies have arrested the man believed to be behind a “hot prowl” burglary in Stevenson Ranch last week, officials said Wednesday.
Deputies arrested Van Nuys resident Karen Kapshanyan, 24, for residential burglary late Tuesday night.
A “hot prowl burglary” is one in which the burglar enters an occupied residence.
During the burglary, which took place Jan. 3, a resident was able to take a photograph of the suspect with her cell phone.
That photograph was widely circulated, and a Santa Clarita resident was able to give the Sheriff’s Station a possible identification of the suspect.
Police identified Kapshanyan as a potential suspect and executed a search warrant and his home in Van Nuys. He was arrested Tuesday around 9 p.m.
He was not taken into custody for a similar “hot prowl” burglary Monday in Stevenson Ranch.
Kapshanyan was being held on $50,000 bail and was expected to be arraigned Thursday in San Fernando Superior Court.
