A man was transported to the hospital after falling 25 feet off an embankment Wednesday in the Haskell Canyon open space.

Los Angeles County Fire Department officials received a call around 3:38 p.m. that the man had fallen near the intersection of High Ridge Drive and Copper Hill Drive, a spokesman said.

The man was driving a blue Toyota in the open space when the accident occurred, the spokesman said. The spokesman said he did not know if the man was in or out of his vehicle when he fell.

Lt. Tom Bryski of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said sheriff’s deputies responded to the incident to prep the area for a helicopter landing so the man could be airlifted to the hospital.

The spokesman said the man was already en route to the hospital for treatment as of 4:10 p.m. The extent of the man’s injuries was unknown.
