LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles city attorney's office says a talent scout has been convicted of sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl who was attending his acting and modeling school.

Spokesman Frank Mateljan announced Friday that 45-year-old Yoshitomo Kaneda was sentenced to six months in jail after he was convicted of six counts including sexual battery and child molestation.

Kaneda will have to register as a sex offender for life and has been prohibited from any contact with the victim.

On Feb. 22, Kaneda took the girl to his apartment, gave her a massage and sexually molested her.

Afterward, he left several apologetic phone messages for the victim's mother.

Those messages helped secure his conviction.
