Homicide detectives are looking into the disappearance of a Canyon Country woman after she left a New Year’s Eve party distraught, a Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman said Thursday.

Sarah Alarid, 19, ran into her ex-boyfriend at a party in the Shadow Pines area of Canyon Country, left the house following an encounter with the man and has not been seen since, said a woman spearheading civilian efforts to find her.

“She’s never done anything like this before,” said Amanda Angle of Canyon Country. “It’s not like her to run off.”
Alarid was last seen wearing a gray shirt and jeans.

She is described as “Caucasian/Hispanic,” 5-foot-4, between 110 and 120 pounds, with greenish-gray eyes and reddish-brown hair.

Her parents, according to Angle, have filed a missing persons report with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Santa Clarita Valley Deputy Josh Dubin said the case was being handled by the Homicide Bureau downtown.

“From what we know, she was at a party on New Year’s Eve and didn’t come home,” he said.

A spokeswoman for the Homicide Bureau said a missing persons detective has been assigned to the case.

According to friends, Alarid was driving a 2002 silver-colored Ford Focus when she left the party.

On Thursday, Angle and her friends distributed fliers about the missing woman and posted them around the Santa Clarita Valley.

They listed the license plate of Alarid’s car as 4WXE737.

Alarid had attended the charter school Opportunities For Learning but was no longer a student there, Angle said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Missing Persons Detective Tammy Abraham of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department at 323-890-5502.
