Valencia’s doubles lineup was undoubtedly the best in the Foothill League this season, and the Vikings’ No. 1 team of Tina Inchalik and Ashley Keith didn’t disappoint in their leading role.

The duo went 63-5 this season, and helped Valencia reach the quarterfinals of the CIF-Southern Section Division II team playoffs.

In Foothill League play, Inchalik, just a sophomore, and the senior Keith were 28-1 and followed up an impressive regular season by winning the league individual tournament over fellow Vikings Alekhya Bommireddipalli and Lindsey Wolf.

But their success wasn’t quite finished.

Inchalik and Keith advanced past the first day of the CIF-Southern Section Division II individual tournament, the only

Foothill League athletes to do so, by winning three matches to reach the round of 32.

The duo became the first Valencia players to reach the round of 32 since Emily and Clarice Fraczek in 2010.

As was so often the case this season, Inchalik and Keith’s postseason performance reiterated the excellence they had shown all season.

They were the cream of the doubles crop in the Foothill League, easily dispatching nearly all league opponents and gliding through the league finals with little resistance.

The pair was a big reason why Valencia returned to the top of the Foothill League this season, giving the program its 10th league title in 11 tries after a one-year hiatus in 2011.

Both were at their best when everything was on the line, too.

With a chance to secure a co-championship with Hart by defeating West Ranch on the final day of the regular season, Inchalik and Keith swept three sets 6-1, 6-1, 6-2, including a victory over All-SCV first teamers Amanda Wilkinson and Mackenzie Lyle.

For their ability to handle the pressure of being the Vikings’ No. 1 doubles team, and their ability to help Valencia once again reach the top of the Foothill League, Tina Inchalik and Ashley Keith are The Signal’s 2012 All-SCV Doubles Team of the Year.
