Happy New Year! It doesn’t seem possible that it will be 2013! I predict it will be a lucky year because we made it past 2012 and the end of the world. Have you made your New Year’s resolution?

New Year’s Eve

There doesn’t seem to be too much “organized” nonprofit New Year’s Eve action in the SCV this year, not like in the past. Maybe no one expected us to make it past 12/12/12? However, the Repertory East Playhouse is hosting it’s annual fabulous New Year’s Eve party. The swank affair will be held off site (to accommodate a larger crowd). The event, The Midnight Circus will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31 at 26635 Valley Center, Drive, Santa Clarita. Tickets are $125 a couple. A strict dress code will be enforced with black tie for men and evening gowns with black, white and monochrome colors with accents of red. A champagne toast will ring in the New Year. For reservations call 288-0000 or for more information visit www.repeastplayhouse.org.

Cheers@All Corked Up

Eve Bushman of Eve’s Wine 101 and Michael Perlis of Perlis Pick will sponsor a special New Year’s Eve dinner at Cheers@All Corked Up. The four course menu created by the acclaimed Santa Clarita Valley Chef Dominik will include a tasty array of Dominik’s specialities including a choice of: Rich Mustard Dijonaise Glazed Chicken; Chicken in Marsala Wine and a Mushroom Reduction Sauce; Piccata Salmon in Lemon and Capers ;Salmon topped with Steaming Mussels and Spinach; Pork Chop with Supreme Roasted Piquant Pepper Sauce; Rack of Lamb Bathed in Creamy Mushroom Sauce; Puerto Rican Slow-Cooked Pork Shoulder Pernil with a choice of: Arroz con gandules (Green Pigeon Peas), Smashed Potatoes or Grilled Fresh Vegetables. Are you hungry yet? To ensure that you have a reserved dinner make your reservations in person or by phone today: 661-259-2000. The dinner is $100 per person and includes four-course meal, two live bands, toy noisemakers and a midnight Champagne toast You can also reserve a spot without a meal if you prefer for $50.

I know of a number of restaurants around the SCV that are hosting special New Year’s Eve dinners and such, check with your favorite hangout and see what’s up. I think we all need to party to ring in this special New Year!

Sweetheart Gala

The annual Sweetheart Gala hosted by SCV Women and Men of Honor to benefit Cardiac Care Services at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital will be held 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. Dinner and dancing to the Jimmy Carnelli Orchestra. For reservations email shelleyhannpresents@gmail.com.

Hugs

Make sure you tell the people in your life how much they mean to you. You never really know what the day will bring. I want to thank the people of the SCV for bringing so much joy to my life. This is really the best place to live!

What we lost...

Despite the wonderful people and places of the SCV we’ve lost some treasures in the past year. Vino 100 and Maru Sushi are two that come to mind. We’ve also gained some incredible places like Longhorns in Canyon Country and Grinder’s New York Deli in Canyon Country. Let’s keep shopping local and supporting the businesses that support the SCV!
