A collision between two big rigs today at 5:58 a.m., forced the closure of the truck lane on southbound Interstate 5 north of Interstate 210, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP Officer John Lutz said the collision involved at least two trucks, one of which jackknifed upon impact forcing closure of the road as crews work to clear the wreckage.
One of the trucks began leaking diesel fuel on the road, and the cleanup process for that is ongoing as of 9:25 a.m., Lutz said.
The truck lane of the southbound I-5, just north of I-210, is expected to remain closed until early this afternoon, Lutz said.
An ambulance responded to the scene at 6:19 a.m., Lutz said. It is currently unclear what kind of injuries resulted from the crash.
It is also unknown if this morning’s rainy weather played a role in the collision.
“But there’s one thing I know, rain doesn’t cause accidents,” Lutz said.
