Newhall Library invites all families with school-age children to attend “We Shall Overcome,” — a free program presenting a musical journey through African-American history — from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at Newhall Library, 22704 West 9th Street.
“We Shall Overcome” features Makinto playing a variety of instruments to illustrate the evolution of black music from African roots, slavery, emancipation, awakening, civil rights movement, to modern times.
This program is made possible by a major gift awarded to the library through the We the People Bookshelf national grant project.
